College of Computer Science and Technology

The College of Computer Science and Technology has a strong faculty of teaching and research setting up with Dept. of Computer Science, Dept. of Computer Engineering, Experimental Technology Center and Dept. of Computer Basic Teaching. There are 85 teaching staff including 11 professors, 22 associate professors, 5 senior engineers and 7 doctorate supervisors. More than 98% of teachers have PhDs or master’s degrees. At present, there are 632 undergraduates and 372 or more students with PhDs and master’s degree .

The College of Computer Science and Technology has a PhD granting right of secondary discipline of Computer Application Technology, a station for post-doctoral research of first-level discipline of Computer Science and Technology, master’s degree granting rights of first-level discipline of Computer Science and Technology and Software Engineering, master’s degree granting rights in two fields of Computer Application Technology and Software Engineering, and master’s degree granting right of Computer Application Technology for college teacher. The Computer Application Technology is the key subject in Shanxi Province. The College has majors in Computer Science and Technology and Internet of Things Engineering. In 2004, Computer Science and Technology was named in the first branded majors of universities in Shanxi Province, listed in major construction points with characteristics of national colleges and universities in 2009, included in pilot majors of “training plan of outstanding engineers”approved by the Ministry of Education in 2010, passed professional certification of Chinese Engineering Education. In recent years, undergraduate majors are exploring and practicing international cooperation and two kinds of “customized” cultivating new models for enterprises, and has established dual degree (3+1) joint training student exchange program and cooperation training plan with many domestic famous IT companies. Internet of Things Engineering, approved by the Ministry of Education in 2010, is new undergraduate course related strategic emerging industries. Taiyuan University of Technology is the first approved to own Internet of Things Engineering as one of the five local colleges and universities across the country, and began to recruit students, and is now recruiting 286 students.

In recent years, the College of Computer Science and Technology has undertaken projects of national “863” high-tech, national natural science fund, national science and technology support plan, and more than 70 national key projects and provincial projects. It has won 1 item of first prize, 3 items of second prizes, 3 items of third prizes of provincial scientific and technological progress, 1 item of provincial outstanding software award, 1 item of first prize and 2 items of second prizes of provincial excellent teaching achievement and published more than50 books and textbooks, and more than 700 academic papers in core journals at home and abroad.

Computer Science and Technology

Cultivation Goals: Training special personnel with implementation and operational capacity of applied engineering excellence, adapting to the national, regional and industrial needs of economic construction and social development, having good humanities and social sciences, sense of social responsibility and engineering ethics, mastering natural science with solid foundation, engineering basis and core basic theoretical knowledge of Computer Science, having professional skills in the fields of computer, engineering design of software and hardware systems.

Cultivation Requirements: Students can have the skill of integrated use of advanced theories and technologies of computer software and hardware, based on innovative thinking and engineering method. Students can analyze and solve various engineering problems in computer field under constraint conditions of economy, environment, regulations and standards, and at the same time have team cooperation spirit, engineering consciousness, communication, literature utilization, international vision, project organization and management, lifelong learning, ability to adapt to rapid social development and analyze, construct, develop, test, maintain and manage systems engineering related computer in enterprises and institutions.

Internet of Things

Cultivation Goals: The professional cultivates talents with many characteristics and abilities,including: good moral character, humanistic quality, social responsibility, good interpersonal and collaborative work ability, innovation and international perspective. The students should master many abilities,including:expand knowledge through independent and sustained learning , adapt to economic construction and social development need and master solid knowledge of natural science, basic theory of things networking and professional core theory. With so many abilities, the students can be the applied engineering and technical talents who can analyze and solve complex system problems in the Internet of things engineering by applying basic theoretical knowledge and professional skills related to the integrated application of Internet of things engineering.Graduates can work in the government, enterprises and institutions involved in things networking and related areas of engineering analysis, design and development, implementation of operation and maintenance, management support and so on.

Cultivation Requirements: The professional has many requirements for students,including understanding the Internet of things related to the latest technology and development trends, mastering a solid mathematical and natural science knowledge, mastering basic professional and theoretical knowledge of perception, communication, network and software. The students should master many abilities,including applying relevant theoretical knowledge and Internet of things engineering methods, techniques and tools in a comprehensive way under the relevant constraints conditions, engage in Internet of things engineering analysis, design, development and maintenance aspects of the work.At the same time, the students should be with team spirit, technological innovation, project management and market development capabilities, who can work in enterprises and institutions of competencies networking system analysis, design and research and development,the application of things networking, management and system services and so on.

Information Security

The students should expand knowledge through independent and continuous learning , adapt to economic construction and social development needs,master solid natural science,basic information security theory and engineering knowledge. With so many abilities, the students can be the applied engineering and technical talents who can analyze and solve complex system problems in the information security domain by applying basic theory and basic skills of information security. Graduates can find a good job in the government, enterprises and institutions involved in information security-related systems engineering analysis, design, development, evaluation, maintenance and management work.

Cultivation Requirements: The professional has many requirements for students,including: understand the information security technology development direction and industry prospects, master a solid mathematical and natural science knowledge, master information security foundation, system security, network security and content security and other professional basic theoretical knowledge,apply basic theory and basic skills of information security in a comprehensive way, engage in the analysis, design, development, evaluation, maintenance and management of information security related systems engineering and evaluate the impact of information security system solutions on social, health, safety, law and culture.
