Abstract:

Success of complex product development projects requires close collaboration among engineers from different disciplines. However, till now, there is still lack of systematic information sharing support for such multi-disciplinary collaboration, such as between geo-mechanical and chemical process engineering and mechanical engineering. In this paper, a unified interdisciplinary methodology is proposed based on associative feature to have a generic data representation and multi-physics modelling schema. With the systematically organized and indexed constraints embedded in the feature models, supported with change propagation methods, this proposed methodology is a good fit for collaborative engineering of sizable projects.
