On the 9th of May, the ASC 2018 Student Supercomputer Challenge (ASC18) came to a close at Nanchang University. At the end, the champions of this global competition were revealed to be the team from TYUT. This is the fourth time that TYUT has taken home first place at the event.
The contest team was sent out by the College of Data Science (CDS), led by Guo Xuejun, along with five students from the college of mathematics, the college of computer science and technology, and the college of electrical and power engineering. The team had worked day and night to prepare for the challenge, buoyed by TYUT’s spirit of innovation, and finally achieved the ultimate success, a welcome gift for TYUT’s 116 birthday.
The Student Supercomputer Challenge was initiated by China and is now the largest supercomputer contest by number of participants in the world. ASC18 was the 7th contest, and was jointly hosted by the Asian Supercomputer Community, Inspur Group and Nanchang University. Over 300 college student teams signed up for the contest, which were whittled down to 20 for the final.
