Students From the College of Mechanical Engineering At Taiyuan University of Technology Obtain Good Results in the Second “Fixed Star Cup” Graduation Design Competition

From the 25^th to the 26^th of May, the second “Fixed Star Cup” Graduation Design Competition was held at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The competition was hosted by the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society and the Mechanical Education Union of Excellent Engineers. It was organized by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and sponsored by Fixed Star Group.

In total, there were 372 entries from 66 universities who took part in the competition. Expert evaluation then whittled these down to 150 entries who went through to the final. The finalists came from only 6 universities: Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tongji University, Tianjin University, Xi’an Jiaotong University and Taiyuan University of Technology (TYUT).

TUYT’s team was composed of three students from the College of Mechanical Engineering: Wang Kunpeng, Liang Chao and Wang Lin. They were instructed by three teachers – Wang Shuping , Li Kai and Lv Bo, and led by Professor Liu Kunju, Professor Wang Yiliang, and Xiong Xiaoyan, the vice-dean of the College of Mechanical Engineering. TYUT’s team made a breakthrough in the competition this year with one student, Wang Kunpeng, winning the bronze award and the other two, Liang Chao and Wang Lin, gaining Honourable Mentions.

The signing ceremony of the university-enterprise cooperation was held during the competition. Xiong Xiaoyan, representing TYUT, signed with the Taiyuan Heavy Machinery Group, laying a solid foundation for deepening cooperation between the two in the future.
