The opening ceremony for new international students in 2018 was held at Taiyuan University of Technology (TYUT) on November 16th. The ceremony was attended by TYUT President Huang Qingxue, Vice-president Liang Weiguo, heads of other related units, international students and representatives of current international students majoring in International Chinese Education.
Mr. Huang extended sincere congratulation and warm welcome to 183 international students studying in TYUT. He introduced the history and culture of both Shanxi Province and Taiyuan City, and the history, development and achievement of TYUT. In his address, he highlighted the character of inclusiveness and expressed the hope that students could develop the quality of broad mind. He encouraged students to take the pursuit of scholarship, broaden their international horizons, develop international friendship, spread Chinese culture and take the role as defenders of the community of the shared future for mankind.
Zhang Yi, representative of teachers, dean of College of Economic and Management, and doctoral supervisor, also extended congratulation and encouragement to students in his speech.
Calum, new international students’ representative, and Ma Ke, current international students’ representative, both shared their experience and hope for a wonderful journey in TYUT.
The opening ceremony came to an end with the university song.
