From July 17 to 21, TYUT’s party secretary Wu Yucheng led a delegation to visit City University of Macau, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong Baptist University and City University of Hong Kong, exchanging views on teacher-student exchanges, talents cultivation, scientific research cooperation and personnel recruitment. Many cooperative intentions were reaqched with the universities above, focusing on the construction of "double first-class" university.
At City University of Macau, Wu Yucheng held talks with rector Zhang Shuguang, secretary-general of council Robert Chan, dean of the Institute of Data Science Prof. Du Wencai, and director of the academic affairs office Prof. Cai Zhiming. The two sides had in-depth discussions on student exchanges, academic visit of double and special invited experts and teachers, the postgraduate exemption system, and joint application for national scientific research projects. The two sides have reached the intention to promote cooperation in disciplines including humanities, art, ancient architecture and big data.
At Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Wu held talks with the university's associate vice president and professor K. Y. Wong. The two sides discussed the cooperation and exchanges in chemistry, materials, artificial intelligence, aerospace engineering and other disciplines. Wu had in-depth exchanges with professor Yan Hong and professor Huang Weiyang on scientific research cooperation.
TYUT also held a job fair in Hong Kong Polytechnic University, which attracted wide attention from students and scholars of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong Baptist University and other universities. The person in charge of human resource office introduced in detail the demand of talents, the construction of "double first-class" discipline, personnel and talent policy and supporting conditions to students and scholars attending the job fair.
At Hong Kong Baptist University, Wu held talks with the vice-president Rick Wong, the associate vice-president CK Yeung, dean of the faculty of science Zhang Jianhua; professor Zhu Furong from department of physics; and Dr Yang Liwei, the senior director of the associate vice-president's office. The two sides exchanged views on the exchanges and cooperation since the signing of the agreement on the undergraduate and postgraduate program in 2013. Both parties agreed to carry out new master and doctoral programs based on the existing one. The delegation also visited the state key laboratory of environmental and biological analysis and professor Zhu Furong's laboratory.
Wu also exchanged views with professor Chen Furong and professor Li Zhensheng at City University of Hong Kong on the research and development of high resolution electron microscope and its application in materials science, nanomaterials and surface science and other advanced functional materials.
During his stay in Hong Kong, Wu, on behalf of TYUT, paid a visit to Mr. Chen Jinqiang, the distinguished alumnus of TYUT and President of Hong Kong Overseas Chinese Association. He conveyed the sincere greetings from president Huang Qingxue and all the teachers and students to Mr. Chen, and sincerely invited alumni in Hong Kong for consultation of development.
This visit deepened the mutual understanding between TYUT and the universities in Macao and Hong Kong, strengthened the emotional contact with the alumni of Hong Kong, broadened the new communication channels and built a new cooperation platform between TYUT and the universities in Macao and Hong Kong.
