On Dec. 12th, party secretary Wu Yucheng and vice-president Liang Weiguo leading the council of Confucius Institute of TYUT attended the 13th Confucius Institute Conference in Chengdu. Over 1500 delegates from 154 countries and regions participated the conference, which was hosted by Chen Baosheng, minister of Education.
Sun Chunlan, vice-premier of State Council and vice-Chairman of Confucius Institute Headquarters, attended and delivered a speech. He pointed out that the Chinese government has always encouraged cross-cultural exchanges and actively supported cooperation between China and foreign countries in running Confucius Institutes. President Xi Jinping has repeatedly stressed that Confucius institutes, as a window and bridge for language and cultural exchanges between China and other countries, belong to China and the world at large. Thanks to the joint efforts of both China and foreign countries, the education quality of Confucius Institutes has been steadily improved, cultural exchanges have become increasingly active, and their service capacity has been continuously enhanced. These institutes have made positive contributions to meeting the needs of people of foreign countries in learning Chinese, promoting economic and trade cooperation.
Cooperating with overseas, TYUT has constructed two Confucius Institutes in Kabul University in Afghanistan and the University of West Indies in Jamaica. These two institutes have gone through a journey of a decade, having trained a large number of teachers and students who learn Chinese, making significant contributions to TYUT’s culture and education exchange and our "internationalization strategy project".
