From February 18th to 23rd, vice president Liang Weiguo visited Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg (OVGU) and University of Applied Sciences Trier (UAST) in Germany.

Mr. Liang discussed with Helmut Weiβ (deputy president of OVGU) and Thilo Zinecker (director of international cooperation department) about co-establishing Confucius Institutes. Meanwhile, Mr. Liang initially discussed the cooperation model with professor Andreas Lindemann from Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Michael Scheffler from Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Dominique Thevenin from Faculty of Process & Systems Engineering who respectively introduced their institutes.

In Birkenfeld, Mr. Liang met with Michael Dietz (Minister of industry and trade department of municipal government), Michael Knaus (director of International Department of UAST) and Andreas Scholz (executive of Sino-German Oak Garden Group) and Ms. Hou Jixiang. Preliminary exchanges were conducted on establishing Confucius institutes for Chinese language teaching in this region, and the specific cooperation mode and content with College of Environmental Science and Engineering in TYUT.
