Vice-president of Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg Visits TYUT

Helmut Weiβ, vice-president of Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg (OVGU), visited TYUT on March 26th. Party secretary Wu Yucheng, vice-president Wu Douqing and Liang Weiguo met with the guests respectively.

Wu Yucheng warmly welcomed vice-president Helmut Weiβ and his delegation. He hoped that the two universities could conduct in-depth cooperation and exchanges in the establishment of Confucius Institutes and the construction of majors in materials, chemicals, mining, machinery, etc..

Liang Weiguo first introduced the history, internationalization and the construction of "double first-class" of TYUT. He said that the People's Government of Shanxi Province and TYUT have always been highly concerned about and strongly supported the promotion of international cooperation. He hoped that the two sides could make use of the platform of Confucius Institutes to expand cooperation and exchanges in teachers, students, personnel training and scientific research in the fields of chemistry, chemical engineering and environmental engineering, and accelerate the implementation of specific cooperation intentions.

Helmut Weiβ, vice President of the university of Magdeburg, expressed great pleasure at this return visit. He introduced the preparatory work of OVGU for the establishment of the Confucius institute, saying that the university will reinforce coordination in the coming months and speed up the process of application to relevant departments. At the same time, he also introduced the history of OVGU. He believed that the two universities have similar research directions in chemical engineering, environment and other fields, which provides good conditions for cooperation. He hoped to deepen the cooperation in the future.

Leaders from College of Chemistry and Chemical engineering and College of Environmental Science and Engineering respectively introduced the development of disciplines and expressed their willingness to further the cooperation and exchange on related majors.

During the visit, the guests also visited the history museum and Mingxiang campus, gaining a deeper understanding of TYUT. This return visit has achieved remarkable results and will lay a solid foundation for extensive cooperation between the two universities.
