On May 20, the 23rd CUBA (China University Basketball Association) national competition started. After four divisions and playoffs, the high-level men's basketball teams from 32 universities nationwide emerged and gathered in Huazhong University of Science and Technology to get the top eight. The last eight will be selected after division series through double-elimination, and the eight teams will compete at home and away. TYUT men's basketball team , with their fearless and tenacious spirits, successfully entered into the quarterfinal and brought the game back to the home court. This is also the 21st time that TYUT progressed to the last eight.

Despite the hard situation, the leaders, coaches and players of TYUT men's basketball team coped with the challenges calmly and fought back effectively. With an indomitable spirit, they successively defeated the strong opponents Inner Mongolia Normal University, Zhejiang University, Ningbo University and Hunan Normal University one by one, and entered into the final eight of the national elites.

Especially in the key match with Hunan Normal University on May 24, the two sides tied in the regular time. During overtime, our university finally defeated the opponent with a lead of 7 points. Zhou Zixu scored 33 points with 9 rebounds and 8 assists and became the greatest meritorious player again. Captain Li linyue also scored 23 points with 5 rebounds and 9 assists.
After the competition, Zheng Qiang, Secretary of CPC Committee of TYUT, President Huang Qingxue, and Li Jinping, Deputy Secretary of CPC Committee of TYUT, immediately expressed congratulation to the men's basketball team.
By the evening of May 24, the final eight of the 23rd CUBA were all released, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Xiamen University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Guangdong University of Technology, China University of Mining & Technology and Taiyuan University of Technology. By drawing lots, the quarter-finals will be held in two rounds of home and away games on May 29 and 30, as well as on June 5 and 6. The teams with the highest net score will advance to the final four!
