On November 2nd and 3rd, Taiyuan University of Technology (TYUT) received a delegation led by Vice-Chancellor and President G.Q. Max Lu of the University of Wollongong (UOW), Australia. TYUT Party Committee Secretary Shen Xingquan and President Sun Hongbin met with President Lu respectively, holding friendly discussions on bilateral cooperation.
Shen extended a welcome to the visiting delegation and spoke highly of the continuously deepening cooperation between the two sides in recent years, particularly in high-level exchanges, talent cultivation, and scientific research. He stated that TYUT is steadfastly advancing towards its goal of becoming a high-level first-class university and consistently values its partnership with world-class universities like UOW. He expressed the hope that the two universities would continue to move forward hand in hand, to write a new chapter in higher education cooperation.
Sun once again extended his sincere congratulations to Professor G.Q. Max Lu on taking up his role as UOW Vice-Chancellor and President, coinciding with UOW’s 50th anniversary. He stated that both sides currently possess a solid foundation for deepening cooperation. He emphasized that as a major energy province, Shanxi’s significant demands in fields like clean energy provide a broad space for collaboration between the two sides, and highlighted immense cooperative opportunities ranging from exploring cutting-edge scientific issues to industrial technology transfer, and expanding application scenarios. He expressed his hope to further promote in-depth exchanges between faculty and students of the two universities, elevating the existing exchanges and cooperation to a new level involving extensive participation across all disciplines.
Max Lu expressed his gratitude for TYUT’s warm reception and introduced UOW’s current development status as well as its educational philosophy of “Nurturing Talents on Fertile Ground, Earning Reputation for Global Connectivity”. He particularly emphasized his high regard for the extensive cooperation with TYUT in areas such as talent cultivation and scientific research. He looked forward to close collaboration and joint progress in frontier disciplines like clean energy, with the aim of achieving breakthrough cooperative results together.
During the visit, Max Lu and his delegation also held a symposium with student representatives from TYUT-UOW cooperative education programs. The students spoke actively, sharing their learning experiences and gains within this international education brand program, and engaging in in-depth discussions with UOW representatives regarding their personal academic plans. Max Lu encouraged the students to maintain a global perspective, solidify their professional foundation, and strive to grow into outstanding international talents with innovative capabilities.
