Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researchers 2025 list identifies the global landscape of top research talent from universities, research institutions, and commercial organizations whose contributions have demonstrated broad and significant influence in their fields. This annual list recognized 6,868 scientists from more than 1,300 institutions in 60 countries and regions. Among them, 1,406 researchers from the Chinese mainland were selected, accounting for 20% of the total, while four researchers from Shanxi Province were included.
It is reported that the Highly Cited Researchers is a list published annually by Clarivate, aimed at identifying researchers whose work has had a genuine, global influence in the natural or social sciences through quantitative assessment. The list is based on an analysis of highly cited papers in the SCIE and SSCI journals from the Web of Science Core Collection, conducted by the Institute for Scientific Information.
