On May 22nd, the male team of TYUT won the fierce competition against Hunan Normal University with 73-70, and finally advanced to the national top 8.
CUBA national competition began on May 18th at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou City with 32 strongest teams in from universities all over the country. In the first match on May 18th, TYUT basketball team got off to a bad start and lost unexpectedly to Shantou University where the team was forced into a corner and encountered the risk of being eliminated if they lost one more match. Facing the desperate situation, the team responded calmly and fought back, defeating the strong opponents Zhengzhou University, Shihezi University, Shandong University of Science and Technology and Hunan Normal University.
Especially in the crucial battle against Hunan Normal University for the position in the last eight on May 22, the whole team fought back after falling behind by 10 points in the last quarter, and finally won the match 73-70. Zhou Zixu was even more heroic in the final moments, scoring eight points in a row and hitting a 3-point shot in the last 3.6 seconds of the game with a complete kill!
As of the evening of May 22, the top eight of the 21st CUBA have been announced. They are Peking University, Tsinghua University, Xiamen University, Central South University, Zhejiang University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Civil Aviation University of China and Taiyuan University of Technology.
