The Inaugural Meeting of College of International Education Exchange Alumni Association Was Successfully Held

       On the afternoon of February 25th, the inaugural meeting of College of International Education Exchange Alumni Association was held in the multifunctional hall G601, Guojiao Building, Yingxi Campus. The member of the Standing Committee of CPC Taiyuan University of Technology Committee and vice president of TYUT Wu Douqing, Director of  TYUT Alumni Office and Secretariat of  TYUT General Alumni Association Du Kun, Deputy Director of School Anniversary Office Xu Xin, and Deputy Director of TYUT Alumni Office Kang Xixing attended the conference. More than 120 alumni representatives from home and abroad attended the conference online and offline. The conference was presided over by Li Wenbin, Deputy Dean of College of International Education Exchange.





The general assembly deliberated and adopted Articles of Taiyuan University of Technology College of International Education Exchange Alumni Association (The Draft) and The List of Institutions and Suggested Candidates for College of International Education Exchange Alumni Association. Du Kun, on behalf of  TYUT General Alumni Association, read out "The Official Reply" to the Establishment of College of International Education Exchange Alumni Association. The leaders present awarded appointment letters to the members of the Association. Deputy Director of Academic Committee of TYUT and the Director of Key National  Laboratory of Coal Science and Technology of the Ministry of Education Li Wenying was appointed Honorary President of the Association; Director of Student Affairs office Zhao Guojun, Director of International Cooperation Office Zhang Yongzhong, and Former Secretary of the CPC General Branch of College of International Education Exchange Zhao Anyuan were appointed as consultants; Dean of College of International Education Exchange Chen Shaoping was elected the first President.

 


 Chinese director of the Confucius Institute at the Mona Campus of the University of the West Indies in Jamaica Feng Lei and other alumni representatives extended congratulations to the establishment of College of International Education Exchange Alumni Association, and expressed that they would continue to spread Chinese culture, strengthen the external publicity of the University and attract more talented international students to study in TYUT through the Confucius Institute. Chen Shaoping reviewed the 18 years' development of College of International Education Exchange, thanked people from all walks of life for their contributions to the school's development, and said that College of International Education Exchange Alumni Association would serve as a great platform and link for alumni.

 


 


Wu douqing fully affirmed the efforts made by College of International Education Exchange in alumni work. He pointed out that Taiyuan University of Technology, as one of the three oldest universities in China, has already gone through two jia Zi (sixty-year cycle in traditional Chinese chronology). Since its inception, the University has attached great importance to international exchanges and cooperation: Premier of Western Learning Academy of Shanxi University Timothy Li is from England, and General Professor Dun Chongli is from Scotland. "Internationalization" is a solidfied tradition engraved in the history of the University. So far, the University has trained more than 700 international students from all over the world. We hope that after graduation, the international students will make greater contributions to telling stories of their Alma mater, spreading Chinese culture, promoting exchanges and cooperation between their countries (regions) and China, and building a community with a shared future for mankind. TYUT General Alumni Association will provide assistance to the Council of the Alumni Association, attract more outstanding international students to study in our university, and invite more overseas experts and scholars to carry out scientific research cooperation in our university. He hoped that all the alumni would pay attention to and support the development of their Alma Mater, and contribute to continuously improve the school's international education with a higher level. He also welcomed the alumni from all over the world to participate in the celebration activities to be held on May 6 this year through various online and offline ways and come back to their "home" . Wu requested that College of International Education Exchange fully review the experience in recruiting, cultivating and managing international students in recent years, draw on collective wisdomand make scientific planscontributing the 120th anniversary of the University with more outstanding achievements.
