Taiyuan University of Technology - University of Wollongong Joint Research Center Unveiled

On April 16th, the opening ceremony for Taiyuan University of Technology (TYUT) - University of Wollongong (UOW) Joint Research Center was held on 9th floor of Shaw Building. Huang Qingxue, President of TYUT and Damian Easley, CFO of UOW unveiled the Joint Research Center on behalf of two parties.

Witnesses to this ceremony included Liang Weiguo, Vice-president of TYUT, and Zhang Yu, Deputy director of International Cooperation Division at ShanXi Science and Technology Department, and Marissa Mastroianni, CEO of International Business Group. Other directors and experts from relevant departments of the two universities also attended the ceremony.

Huang Qingxue pointed out that the two universities have many years of cooperation in talents cultivation and technical research and development. The Joint Research Center involved such areas as mechanics, materials and information, etc. He believed that the new Joint Research Center would bring more opportunities of cooperation and produce more fruitful results.

Villarreal Linton, Executive Director of Department of Engineering and Information Science, said that the establishment of the Joint Research Center marks a new journey of cooperation between the two universities in related fields. She hoped that the two sides will carry out more extensive cooperation in scientific research projects, research institutions construction, achievement transformation and promotion, and academic personnel exchanges, etc.

Zhang Yu said that Shanxi Province and Australia have established in-depth cooperation in scientific and technological cooperation for a long time. The establishment of the Joint Research Center will further the level and field of cooperation between the two sides. ShanXi Science and Technology Department will provide support and help for the cooperation between the two universities and the operation of the Joint Research Center.

After the ceremony, the delegation also visited the Metal Matrix Composites Forming Laboratory.
