TYUT Leadership Meets with Professor Xi Jiangtao, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Wollongong, Australia

On the morning of May 26, Taiyuan University of Technology (TYUT) held a symposium on cooperation and exchange with the University of Wollongong (UOW). The UOW delegation included Professor Xi Jiangtao, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Growth and Global); Ms. An Huimin (Lily An), Senior Advisor for Greater China; Distinguished Professor Jiang Zhengyi, Director of the Australian Research Council within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences; and Professor Ren Tingxiang from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences. Professor Yang Xiaowei, the Academic Vice President of TYUT, met with Professor Xi and attended the symposium. Also present were representatives from the International Cooperation Department, the Academic Affairs Office, the Finance Office, the College of Mechanical Engineering, the College of Materials Science and Engineering, and the College of Mining Engineering.

Professor Xi expressed sincere gratitude for the warm reception. He noted that UOW places great importance on its long-term and friendly cooperative relationship with TYUT and is confident in expanding cooperation to include more disciplines and higher-level programs. He fully endorsed the collaborative approach of jointly running educational programs and promoting multidisciplinary cooperation. He stated that full support would be given to areas such as curriculum development and teaching quality assurance for the cooperative programs, in order to jointly enhance the quality and international influence of the partnership. He expressed hope that this symposium would serve as a new starting point to advance the cooperation into broader fields and at a higher level.

During the symposium, the two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on key issues, including cooperative education program operation, evaluation and rectification, curriculum optimization, and future cooperation arrangements. They clarified the main tasks and pathways for the next phase and reached broad consensus on cooperation.

After the symposium, Ms. Tian Fengjuan, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Division of the Shanxi Provincial Department of Education, met with the delegation. During their visit, the delegation also toured relevant laboratories at the College of Mechanical Engineering, the College of Materials Science and Engineering, and the College of Mining Engineering.
