On the afternoon of April 14, a delegation led by Mr. Jeffrey Greene, Chairman of the Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation, visited TYUT for an exchange. The symposium was held in the first-floor conference room of the Conference Center on Yingxi Campus. Attendees included Mr. Cui Xianfeng, Level II Bureau Rank Official of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Shanxi Province; Ms. Tian Fengjuan, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Division of the Shanxi Provincial Education Department; representatives from the Shanxi Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries; and Mr. Cheng Yongqiang, Vice President of TYUT.

Vice President Cheng Yongqiang, on behalf of TYUT, welcomed the delegation and briefly introduced TYUT’s history and development. He stated that TYUT has long adhered to an open-door philosophy in education and continuously engages in international exchanges and cooperation. The Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation is committed to promoting people-to-people friendship between China and the United States and youth exchanges, playing an active role in fostering cultural and interpersonal interaction. He expressed hope that this visit would serve as an opportunity to strengthen communication in areas such as youth exchanges, educational cooperation, and cultural dialogue, leading to more tangible collaborative outcomes.

Jeffrey Greene reviewed the foundation’s efforts in facilitating Sino-American people-to-people exchanges and recounted the history of Chinese and American soldiers fighting side by side and rescuing each other during World War II. He emphasized the importance of continuing youth exchanges and educational cooperation programs to enhance mutual understanding between the young people of both countries, promote grassroots friendship, and foster cross-cultural understanding and communication.

Cui Xianfeng, drawing on Shanxi Province's exchanges and cooperation with the United States, highlighted the positive role of people-to-people exchanges in the development of Sino-American relations and reaffirmed the Foreign Affairs Office’s continued support for universities in expanding international exchange channels. Tian Fengjuan expressed support for the university in deepening international educational cooperation through relevant platforms to cultivate globally minded young talents.

During the symposium, relevant TYUT officials presented an overview of the university’s engineering education, disciplinary development, research innovation, and technology transfer. The two sides exchanged views on mechanisms for youth exchanges and pathways for educational cooperation and discussed further communication and collaboration.

Founded in 1998, the Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation is an American non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting the study and commemoration of historical aviation events between China and the United States. In 2022, the foundation launched the “Flying Tigers Friendship Schools and Youth Leadership Program,” aimed at passing on the spirit of the Flying Tigers and enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between Chinese and American youth. In September 2023, Mr. Wang Qiang replied to the foundation, fully affirming its contributions to the healthy and stable development of Sino-American relations.

Following the symposium, the delegation toured TYUT’s relevant laboratories.
