At the invitation of Professor Viktor Kochin, Vice Rector of Belarusian State University (BSU), a delegation led by Zhan Xiaohong, Vice President for Academic Affairs of TYUT, visited Belarus from June 15 to 18 for cooperative exchanges. The delegation was accompanied by the director of the College of International Education and Exchange. The visit aimed to leverage the platform of the China-Belarus University Alliance to align more closely with the needs of Sino-Belarusian industry-academia-research cooperation, and to comprehensively deepen pragmatic collaboration in talent cultivation, scientific innovation, and cooperative education.
On the morning of June 16, the delegation attended the China-Belarus Equipment Manufacturing Science and Technology Exchange Event and the concurrent Research Platform Cooperation Symposium. Together with representatives from Chinese and Belarusian universities, research institutes, and enterprises, they engaged in in-depth discussions on key topics such as the development of joint research platforms, technological innovation, and the commercialization of outcomes in the equipment manufacturing field, fostering consensus on collaborative innovation between industry and academia.
That afternoon, the delegation held a special meeting with Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR) to advance preparatory work for the application to establish a Sino-foreign cooperative education institution. Vice President Zhan Xiaohong reviewed the long-standing cooperative foundation between the two universities, provided a detailed introduction to TYUT’s progress in the “Double First-Class” Initiative and internationalization development plans, and expressed the willingness to deepen pragmatic cooperation. Focusing on advantageous disciplines such as artificial intelligence, communications engineering, software engineering, and computer technology, the two sides refined cooperation plans for cooperative education, faculty and student exchanges, and joint research efforts, making every effort to facilitate early project implementation and effectively promote the development of higher education cooperation between China and Belarus.
On June 17, the delegation attended the opening ceremony of the 2026 China-Belarus International Conference on industry-university-research-application cooperation held at the National Library of Belarus, and witnessed important milestones including the signing of bilateral cooperation agreements between Chinese and Belarusian universities and the launch of the China-Belarus Institute of Outstanding Engineers. At the conference, Vice President Zhan Xiaohong shared experiences on topics such as deep integration of industry-academia-research, transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and cultivation of outstanding engineers. He presented TYUT’s practical experience in industry-academia-research cooperation and learned from the advanced practices of Belarusian universities in combining scientific research with industry.
During the visit, the delegation conducted special exchanges with alliance member universities, including Belarusian State University and Gomel State University, promoting TYUT’s advantageous disciplinary development and research achievements in heavy machinery, new materials, and chemical engineering as a founding member of the China-Belarus University Alliance. The two sides reached cooperation consensuses on joint dual-supervisor cultivation for postgraduate students, research resource sharing, joint applications for international research projects, and two-way faculty and student exchanges, and jointly explored pathways for integrating high-quality educational resources from both countries and deepening international educational collaboration.
The visit featured a tight schedule yet delivered remarkable outcomes. It not only further consolidated TYUT’s cooperative foundation with Belarusian institutions but also expanded the breadth and depth of international cooperation. In the next phase, TYUT will systematically implement the cooperation outcomes, continue to deepen regular exchanges and cooperation with universities in Belt and Road partner countries, steadily enhance the level of open education, actively serve the national strategy of education opening-up, and fully support the high-quality development of TYUT’s “Double First-Class” Initiative.
