TYUT Holds Cooperation and Exchange Symposium with Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology

On June 1, a symposium on cooperation and exchange between TYUT and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) was held at the Yingxi Campus. The symposium was addressed by Dmitry Livanov, Rector of MIPT, and Sun Hongbin, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and President of TYUT. The symposium was chaired by TYUT Vice President Sang Shengbo. Attendees included the MIPT delegation, representatives from Coway International Techtrans Co., Ltd., and the heads of TYUT’s International Cooperation Department, the College of Electrical and Power Engineering, and the Shanxi Energy Internet Research Institute.

TYUT Dominates Peking University by 21, Cruises into National Quarterfinals

On the afternoon of May 29, in the key match of the fourth round in the bottom half of the men’s 32-team national tournament at the 28th Chinese University Basketball Association (CUBAL) Division I, the TYUT men’s basketball team showed great grit and determination, defeating the traditionally strong Peking University men’s team 89:68 — a dominant 21-point victory — and storming into the national quarterfinals.

TYUT Leadership Meets with Professor Xi Jiangtao, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Wollongong, Australia

On the morning of May 26, Taiyuan University of Technology (TYUT) held a symposium on cooperation and exchange with the University of Wollongong (UOW). The UOW delegation included Professor Xi Jiangtao, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Growth and Global); Ms. An Huimin (Lily An), Senior Advisor for Greater China; Distinguished Professor Jiang Zhengyi, Director of the Australian Research Council within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences; and Professor Ren Tingxiang from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences. Professor Yang Xiaowei, the Academic Vice President of TYUT, met with Professor Xi and attended the symposium. Also present were representatives from the International Cooperation Department, the Academic Affairs Office, the Finance Office, the College of Mechanical Engineering, the College of Materials Science and Engineering, and the College of Mining Engineering.

TYUT Appoints Two Internationally Renowned Professors as Honorary Professors

On the morning of May 15, TYUT held a grand honorary professorship appointment ceremony at the Conference Center, Yingxi Campus. Professor Buddhima Indraratna, Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering and Director of the Transport Research Centre at the University of Technology Sydney, and Professor Torsten Wichtmann, Chair Professor of Soil Mechanics, Foundation Engineering and Environmental Geotechnics at Ruhr University Bochum, Germany, were appointed as Honorary Professors of TYUT. Party Secretary Shen Xingquan attended the ceremony, along with Party and administrative leaders and faculty and student representatives from the College of Civil Engineering. The ceremony was presided over by the head of the College of Civil Engineering.

  • TYUT and Saint Petersburg Mining University Holding Online Working Meeting

    On the afternoon of May 16, an online working meeting between Taiyuan University of Technology and Saint Petersburg Mining University of Russia was held in Conference Room 1 on the fourth floor of the Administrative Building of Mingxiang Campus. Attendees included Evgeniy Lyubin, SPMU Vice Rector for International Affairs; Marat Leonidovich Rudakov, SPMU Vice Rector for Special Projects; and Sang Shengbo, TYUT Vice President. Also present were Oleg Kazanin, Dean of the SPMU Mining Faculty; teachers Valentin Morenov and Li Yunpeng; as well as heads of the International Cooperation Department, the Graduate School, and the College of Mining Engineering at TYUT.
