On the morning of June 5, TYUT held a cooperative education program symposium with Ural Federal University (UrFU) at the Yingxi Campus Conference Center. The visiting delegation from UrFU included Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Obukhov Oleg Vladimirovich, Director of the Department of International Educational Programs (DIEP) Kotieva Yana, DIEP Senior Project Manager Pelymskaya Yelena, and Director of the Ural Power Engineering Institute Sarapulov Sergei. TYUT Vice President for Academic Affairs Yang Xiaowei met with the delegation and attended the symposium, together with representatives from the Department of International Cooperation and the College of Electrical and Power Engineering. The meeting was chaired by the head of the Department of International Cooperation.
Yang Xiaowei extended a warm welcome to Vice Rector Obukhov and his delegation on behalf of TYUT. He noted that TYUT and UrFU share a solid foundation for collaboration. The joint Master’s program in Electrical Engineering is a key initiative for TYUT in advancing high-level opening-up in education and cultivating internationally oriented talent in the energy and power sector. Since receiving approval from the Ministry of Education, the two universities have adhered to the principles of sincerity, mutual trust, pragmatic cooperation, and quality first. Together, they have developed the program curriculum, syllabi, and teaching plans, and have jointly advanced course development, faculty exchanges, and student training. As a result, the program’s operational foundation has been continuously strengthened, and its quality steadily improved. TYUT looks forward to using this meeting as a new starting point for in-depth discussions on priority tasks following the program’s extension, including enrollment outreach, curriculum articulation, course substitution, and quality assurance, so as to ensure the program runs more steadily, effectively, and with greater impact.
Obukhov expressed his gratitude for TYUT’s warm reception. He stated that UrFU highly values its cooperative relationship with TYUT and is willing to further strengthen communication and coordination to continuously improve the program’s operational mechanisms and enhance the quality of talent cultivation and cooperative education. He expressed hope that, on the basis of existing collaboration, both sides would continue to expand faculty and student exchanges, joint course development, collaborative research, and cross-disciplinary cooperation in energy, power, and artificial intelligence, thereby advancing the partnership toward broader fields and higher levels.
During the symposium, TYUT presented reports on the implementation of the jointly offered Master’s program in Electrical Engineering, as well as the approval for its extension, the approval for enrollment expansion, and the admission arrangements for 2026. Based on the latest updates from the Ministry of Education platform, the two sides engaged in thorough discussions on the program’s current operation, enrollment outreach, curriculum articulation, course development, quality assurance, and future cooperative upgrades, clearly defining the key tasks and pathways for the next phase of work.
After the meeting, the delegation visited the dedicated program classrooms in the Electrical Engineering Building and TYUT Polar Clean Energy Laboratory, and had cordial conversations with students enrolled in the program. During these exchanges, the delegation inquired in detail about the students’ coursework, practical training, and future career plans, encouraging them to make the most of the Sino-foreign cooperative education platform, broaden their international perspectives, and enhance their professional competencies.
