TYUT Leadership Meets with Professor Xi Jiangtao, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Wollongong, Australia

On the morning of May 26, Taiyuan University of Technology (TYUT) held a symposium on cooperation and exchange with the University of Wollongong (UOW). The UOW delegation included Professor Xi Jiangtao, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Growth and Global); Ms. An Huimin (Lily An), Senior Advisor for Greater China; Distinguished Professor Jiang Zhengyi, Director of the Australian Research Council within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences; and Professor Ren Tingxiang from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences. Professor Yang Xiaowei, the Academic Vice President of TYUT, met with Professor Xi and attended the symposium. Also present were representatives from the International Cooperation Department, the Academic Affairs Office, the Finance Office, the College of Mechanical Engineering, the College of Materials Science and Engineering, and the College of Mining Engineering.

TYUT Appoints Two Internationally Renowned Professors as Honorary Professors

On the morning of May 15, TYUT held a grand honorary professorship appointment ceremony at the Conference Center, Yingxi Campus. Professor Buddhima Indraratna, Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering and Director of the Transport Research Centre at the University of Technology Sydney, and Professor Torsten Wichtmann, Chair Professor of Soil Mechanics, Foundation Engineering and Environmental Geotechnics at Ruhr University Bochum, Germany, were appointed as Honorary Professors of TYUT. Party Secretary Shen Xingquan attended the ceremony, along with Party and administrative leaders and faculty and student representatives from the College of Civil Engineering. The ceremony was presided over by the head of the College of Civil Engineering.

​TYUT’s Chemistry Enters ESI Global Top 1‰ for the First Time

On May 14, Clarivate Analytics released the latest “Essential Science Indicators” (ESI) data, revealing that Taiyuan University of Technology’s Chemistry has officially entered the global top 1‰, driven by its outstanding academic influence and research output. This marks TYUT’s third discipline to join the world’s top tier, following Engineering and Materials Science, and represents another landmark achievement in TYUT’s journey to establish itself as a world-class, open, and research-oriented university with distinct characteristics.

Member of Academia Europaea Johannes A. Lercher Delivers a Lecture at TYUT’s “Qiushi Lecture Series”

On the morning of May 9th, Professor Johannes A. Lercher from the Technical University of Munich, who is also a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (USA), a Member of the National Academy of Engineering (USA), a Member of Academia Europaea, a Member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, and a Member of the Royal Spanish Academy of Sciences, was invited to TYUT’s “Qiushi Lecture Series.” He delivered an academic lecture titled “Enhancing Catalytic Reactivity via the Environment at Active Sites” in the first-floor conference room of the Yingxi Campus Conference Center. The lecture was chaired by Professor Li Ruifeng from the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.

    An international student New Year's gala was held on Friday evening in Jinzhong, Shanxi province, bringing together more than 200 students from 16 countries and regions to perform music, dance and martial arts ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival.

  • Vice Rector Stempitsky of Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics Visits TYUT

    ​From December 4th to 6th, Vice Rector Viktor Romanovich Stempitsky of the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR) and Eugene Sinkevich, Head of the Electromagnetic Compatibility Laboratory, visited TYUT. Xiao Liantuan, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice President of TYUT, met with Stempitsky and held a working meeting. Heads of the TYUT Party and Administrative Office, Graduate School, Office of Academic Research, and International Cooperation Department participated in the meeting.

    ​Recently, exciting news arrived from the international architecture community: the “Fenhe River Main Stream (Qingxu Section) Dike Top Road and Adjacent Areas Comprehensive Management Project”, co-designed by a team from TYUT’s Architectural Design and Research Institute and the College of Architecture and Art, including teachers Gao Jing and Feng Yaru, has been successfully selected for the China Pavilion of the UIA World Congress of Architects 2026 (Barcelona), thanks to its outstanding ecological value, forward-looking design concept, and profound humanistic care.
